The traditional Boxing Day Test returns to South African shores for the 2013-14 season with India scheduled to play the first of three Tests in the home summer. CSA cancelled the fixture last season and opted to play three T20s against New Zealand over the festive period instead in the hope of attracting bigger in-stadium audiences. Although the matches were sell-outs, there was a public outcry about the lack of a Test match and with India visiting this season, the administrators have reinstalled the fixture and handed it back to its usual home, Kingsmead in Durban.
Yes Johannesburg this time rather than Centurion.

Still along time for this series. But good to see ODIs before test series, will definitely help Indian players to acclimatise.
Last time they had hardly any practice before the test series!

Odis should not be viewed as practice matches for tests.
They aren't. Playing ODIs normally itself helps a lot on such overseas tours.
ODIs before tests rather than tests before ODIs is better for the visitors.

Even then half the team is likely to be different - Raina, Rohit, D.Karthik replaced by Vijay, Pujara, Tendulkar, Rahane? Similarly 1-2 bowlers might be different.

Or selectors might crack the whip like last year when odi team was to be selected, tendlya retired when not selected.
Could they do this time too?
ofc he is blocking the spot for the talented nohit. the moment he retires nohit is a surety to take his spot in tests

Lol Ashish you just hate Rohit sharma dont u mate ?? I agree hes not made big runs but I dont feel hes that bad and yes he should be first in line to replace Tendlya in tests but I think he will have to wait another 5-7 years for that ...
