Surprising to see Rahul Dravid in commentary, i dont understand when cricketers reitre they keep saying they would spend time with family and as soon as they retire they still travel with the national team doing television commentary. Had he not retired he could still be playing in the Indian team, he was better than Sachin over the last few years.
Dravid & Laxman were sort of pressured into retiring...

Dravid and Laxman are retired, but not old enough to stop earning :)
And I don't think doing commentary is as demanding as playing on field, so they can manage time between family and profession (of commentary).
Besides who does not want extra money :D

The last time India played at Jo'burg 2006 were 19/2 in 14 overs at lunch on the opening day. India won by 132 runs on the 4th day!

Morkel bowled beautifully. Was unplayable at times. I guess 300 will be a very good score for first innings if we can manage it.

Another point to add is being part of team, sometimes you are not allowed to take your family along etc, whereas that would not be the case here. Also option of picking & choosing series/ games etc is there.,,

With so many Sports channels, commentary is becoming good job for retired Cricketers, no wonder we are seeing so many ex-Cricketers from Pak, Aus, NZ, WI turning commentators even for I P L.

70/2 at lunch. I will take it cos the way SA pacers were bowling it could easily be 4 down. Btw watching Pujara and Kohls bat today reminded me of Sachin and Dravid batting in SA. Where Dravid used to hold fort like Pujara doing and Sachin used to play shots like Kohli is doing. Hopefully they can score big now.

Yes - And those who might not be that good at speaking can also take up the usual column writing / umpire-match refree / coach jobs. And with newer platforms like web etc growing - writing for such websites, participating in hangouts etc are also becoming a viable option
Once again I have a bad internet connection, otherwise that would be my go to platform for all analysis & discussions before, during & after a match.

Waiting for the day when Ravi Shastri is pressurised into retiring from commentary. No matter which channel/country India is playing he is there always. I am fed up by his commentary and his standard lines, the match is always in balance whenever he comes in commentary be it the first session of the test match or the last.

Ravi Shastri is there as BCCI spokesperson :)
He can even praise balloons flying in air if BCCI tells him to do so.
Coming back to match, Kohli and Pujara completes 50 partnership and going good.
