Maisuru is the highest speed rank in India at 3.71Mbit/s, but thats about equal to Rwanda's average of 3.69Mbit/s.

India could/should be able to do better than these countries but is not, and I can't justify why that is.

No purpose to this thread, just somewhat alarming and you should be furious at ISPs for allowing this to happen.

Thanks for enlightening us with this. It is painful to see India so down on the list. India has a long way to go. So many so called 'underdeveloped' countries are ahead of us. Can you give us the link to this article, so I can forward it to other people

No article - I compiled this list from speedtest.net world results rankings (Net Index by Ookla - All Countries) and the countries on the list are there for no other reason than my personal opinion is that India *should* be able to match or be better than the listed countries, especially in urban areas.

Gosh I have never even heard of half the countries on that list...!!

You need to work on your geography :)

Many are African, a couple are Caribbean, 2 are literally tiny islands in the middle of various oceans, Albania and Armenia are pretty much the poorest countries in Europe (for the purpose I'm going to say Armenia is Europe... culturally, caucasion, unlike it's neighbour Iran).

Just checked India's map, and it was surprising that 'Madras' has a lower net speed as compared to 'Chennai', which is almost double that of the former at 3.46 Mbps

That'll probably be one single ISP with old location data in it's rDNS records or something. If it joined Chennai, Chennai's overall rank might sink even lower :(

even PAKISTAN is ahead

I've been saying that for months. They also pay about 40% less per Mbit/s than you do.

I'm no warmonger, but that should be a thorn in Indias side, shouldn't it?

It's Mysore actually. It's a city very close to Bangalore.
