Friends, I need to choose to buy between 16-GB-ipod-touch 1st-Gen and 2nd-Gen. (a) 1st-Gen is about USD80 less than 2nd-Gen in Cost. (b) The physical shape and Size of 2nd-gen is more attractive than the first. Please advise if there are any other difference between them and if it is worht spending those extra 80 USD for 2nd Gen.

i had recommend the second generation. buttons for volume control and some other additional features. much better than the first version.
The second generation iPod Touch has an added volume rocker and a built-in speaker, which were previously iPhone-only features. The second generation also comes with the chrome frame seen on the iPhone 3G, making the two almost identical when viewed from the front, with the only differences being no speaker above the screen, no silent/ringer switch and the sleep/wake button on the other side. The second generation also supports audio input when a headphone or earphone with microphone capabilities is plugged into the audio output jack.

the built in speaker is pretty usable. i own the second generation model and it's pretty good.

Apple is unlikely to be selling the first generation ipod touch in the market new. refurbished are probably available. many retailers in india are still selling the first generation model as i guess they did not finish the stock. it took me a while to find out a second generation touch in the local market. but i still preferred buying it from apple.com in USA. one of my friends mistakenly bought the first generation ipod touch for his dad. he was ok with it coz his dad did not mind that unit.
