Hi tech guruI have a BSNL wi fi broadband connection(data1 modem) and i want to access internet on my ipod touch. However, when i try to access webpages on ipod, it says "cant find the server". The ipaddress, subnetmask is automatically determined in ipod.I also tried setting up DHCP- Manual -server 198.162.1.1 with my username and password. Thsi time the error message shown is " loading....server stopped responding" . I have also tried resetting netwrk settings of my ipod. Please help. Thanks in advance.

hey, hope you got the solution by searching the forum.Incase you havent you need to make sure that the following settings are used:1)DHCP enabled in your router2)PPoe mode where you switch on your modem and internet works(no need of dialing)3)DNS servers set in the modem itself(mostly is)I think you are missing the second point..Ensure you are using ppoe mode

Apple - iPod touch - Guided Tour

mention bsnl modem model.
BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU
select your model. If not listed mention the modem/router you are using.
Please post Ipconfig/all
As advised by @members/superprash2003/ do not use "wanminiportDialer " to connect.
Your UserID without @bsnl.in and password are entered in the WAN page.
Select PPP/PPPoE etc.
Para two : Wireless network. check status.
Basically if your laptop can access the Internet in WIFI mode, ( test purpose)
Apple Ipod programming will be easier.

Thanks Friends I will try out these options and keep u posted. However, I am not sure how to check DHCP enabled on router itself. Do u mean I should look into the configuration of my router done on my laptop? My laptop shows a good wireless signal strength once i On my modem(WA3002-G4) Though I cannot view webpages.Need to see how to carry out config on my laptop where we switch on the modem and internet works...no need of dialling (as mentioned by superprash2003)

Hi Gurus

Still some doubts. Here are the details i see on vista OS.
1) I have a Utstarcom modem/router. Once I switch ON this, I get a good wireless signal strength on my laptop. But I cannot access webpages. I tried to repair it using the standard Vista functions.
2) The second thing I normally do is dial in dataone using my internet id and password. Details after dialing-> TCP/IPV4 connectivity: Internet & TCP/Ipv6 connectivity: Limited. Device name-> WAN miniport (PPOE), server type PPP.

Do you mean to say that I need to change my TCP/Ipv4 settings(step 2 above) and enter the ipaddress 192.168.1.1. What should be the preferred DNS here?
Is it that, by changing the settings above I would not need to dial in. Once I switch ON my modem, I need not dial in dataone.
· Once this is done hopefully I could be able to go in http://192.168.1.1 for administration purpose. This link is not accessible now
· Ipconfig/all says - >
PPP adapter Dataone:
Description: Dataone
Physical address: none
DHCP enabled : No
Autoconfig enabled- yes
IPV4 address; 117.195.22.245
Subnet mask : 0.0.0.0

Hi essbebe / superprash2003

Thanks. I was able to get into http://192.168.1.1 using admin id.
However, I cannot see settings for DHCP anywhere in this, though the CD provided by BSNL has shown DHCP settings under WAN screenshot.

My ipod has taken the IPaddress 169.254.x.x with gateway as 255.255.0.0. Do i need to do any proxy settings here? Proxy settings on ipod has 3 options 1)Off 2)Manual 3) Auto. Manula has the option to enter Server, clientid, password in it.

Please advice on how can i get internet on

However, I cannot see settings for DHCP anywhere in this,
searching.

Tried 192.168.1.1/main.html or menu.hrml or home1.html ?
