Couldn't win the lottery ticket. 10 tickets get booked withing 8 mins only

As i told you, one can easily book through ngpay in that situation

^^^ we are all facing that problem. server does not crash.. its just that WE CUSTOMERs are not given priority betwn 8 to 9 or so. Agents dont face any problem, they keep booking.


But if they are booking only through agent then how can it be a loss to Railways?

As per Railway rules, IRCTC services will not be available on ngpay between 8AM and 9AM.

Have done nice practice session in evening for booking in tatkal scheme today. Its really like Fastest Finger First ( KBC One ) Hoping that I will win lottery!

I do practice early morning, from 7:15 to 7:45AM before booking. I do that everytime. Just incase they change something here and there. But eventually I have succeeded only once.

Today i managed to click "book" while status was still available! That too two times!!

Oh wow am I GOD or what?!!

Pity, after making payment, both the times, site DIDNT BOOK IT! Nothing happened, just a blank page came!! issed-off:

Eureka! I am not a GOD

Why do I have feeling that this is also a fraud, that if customer SOMEHOW manages to pay even then dont let him book!

Now I am hoping that railway will return me money without me making innumerable complaints.

agents are not allowed to book tatkal during 8-9 am, same with ngpay, Cleartrip... only way is through irctc and counter booking!
If you want to book tatkal, you should have some prior experience and of course good/fast payment gateway is necessary!
AFAIK agents are experts in handling irctc booking, so they do it fast compared with regular customers and get tickets!
And reason for disabling quickbook is to help regular customers, since agents are using quickbook option very easily.

@amish, if you've used any credit card gateway, after making vbv password usually those banking sites show blank page with out any user feedback but it will process in background(it will take some time) and return to irctc. first time users usually think payment site got failed and used to refresh or do something there.. which eventually leads to failure in booking. Refund process will take automatically and no need to worry, once i've closed my a/c which used for ticket booking and after 2 months i've cancelled the ticket, but i've forget that the payment gateway used is icici bank a/c which i've closed . After 2 weeks irctc contacted me to give alternate a/c details

para1:comeon. irctc has separate section for agent booking.. i have not seen that section but the rate at which booking happens and we keep getting "service unavailable" message, i always feel that "agents" are given priority.for us, it asks for image verification, for agents i dont know if it asks for same.. so agents might have purchased some software which does this automatically.para2:I do all my bill payments using same netbanking site. So I know when its redirecting it shows "PLEASE WAIT" in big letters. This time nothing happened . Now I dont know where the problem was, bank or irctc. But since this has not happened with other bill payments, I believe this wud be IRCTC!btw i waited almost 2 minutes on that blank page, thinking SOMETHING will happen, but nothing happened. while that page was waiting.. i opened another tab and booked there too. but that too went to blank page.eventually nothing happened, just payment got deducted twice.

See here i'm not supporting IRCTC, but sure the agents are not allowed during 8-9am! IRCTC needs to increase the server capacity, because day by day people travelling in trains are increasing and obvoiusly lots of people will try @ 8am => which leads to service unavailable, in that situation you need to keep on refresh the pages.Anyways 95% i've booked confirmed tickets, reason is i've enough experience in irctc .

IRCTC has made some procedural changes to assist Booking agents. For example it is no longer necessary to provide ID details at the time of booking. This is more for the convenience of agents than general public. I have complained to IRCTC many times and even demanded that there has to be CBI enquiry.Today there is a news report that one agent has been arrested in Mumbai for fraudulent booking. He is said to have made 44 Tatkal booking. At one time Mamta Bannerjee was threatening to take the reservation system away from IRCTC. Perhaps she has been convinced that IRCTC alone should do the booking for reasons we can guess.The IRCTC case needs to be handed over to LokPal when it is ready. Otherwise we need somebody to invoke an investigation through interevention of a Court like what Subramanya Swamy did for 2G scam.Naavi of Naavi.org

Irctc thought about changing the release time of tatkal quota couple of years ago. Time announced was 10 AM. I think they fixed this time because, most people will leave to offices and the server will be up. Don't know why they're not doing it.

Hi,

I want to book Tickets through IR's Website. ie, http://irctc.co.in . I would like to get clarification on few doubts:

1) If I want to book for Senior Citizen Male and Female, How to Avail the discounts. Is it enough that they carry Voters Identity Card as Proof?
2) Is Tatkal Reservation not available?
3) How much extra charges sites like makemytrip.com,yatra.com will charge if I book Train tickets through them?
