IRCTC News & Updates

I just checked it's actually a little faster and apart from the removal of links, a few ads don't appear in the tatkal hours which abates congestion I guess.

Check during tatkal hours! Not now! :D
Ads dont make too much difference. Ads are served from different server. (from one which books ticket)
That server hardly gets loaded because it does not have to do too much processing (like connect to indian railway ticket server, feed data, handle payments etc.)

First page loads fast. The problem occurs only when you try to book tickets.
Sometimes for some session it starts loading fast.
Out of 12-15 times, 2-3 times I was able to book a ticket in just 10minutes. While other times it even takes 45min to 1hr to book a ticket.
It possibly depends on your luck on that day.

IRCTC adds new feature - "Resumption of Failed tickets"
I just tried it!!! Here is screen shot!!

OH WAIT LET ME BURST THE BALLOON!!
As always they put restrictions!! You have to wait 15 minutes!!!

Hahaha, which means by the time you re-try ur failed transaction, your tatkal vacancies would have reached waitlist!!

Why would anyone wait 15 minutes? Instead they will simply book another ticket!

Is it only for tatkal? If not, one can try for regular tickets. But I guess in recent years failures are for tatkal only unlike earlier

Must be for all. Did not check during non-tatkal hours.
Also I dont know what happens when your ticket fails and you resume it.
Does it directly take you to payment page OR does it take you to booking page, etc.
ie. what stage does the resumption take place?

Just logged in to IRCTC website. The link is there right now too (i.e. regular hours). So it means it works for both.
But I could not test because I dont have any recent failed transaction.
But point remains, unless resumption can be done immediately, no point having 15 min delay. Anyone would prefer to book new ticket instead of waiting for 15 minutes

I've never had a failed ticket during regular hours. And even if I did, I could fill up the forms again in less than a minute. Why wait 15 minutes? IRCTC always comes up with useless gimmicks like these... First their useless e-wallet and now this. LOL!

Ok so I just caused a failed ticket to check what happens.
I went to "make payment" but did not pay it. Then waited 15-20 minutes.
So finally transaction appeared in "failed transaction". There was button next to transaction to "Resume". I clicked on it.
And all I got is this "Unable to retrieve due to communication failure."
I tried like 4-5 times but got same message.
So I gave up, still have no idea on what happens when u resume ticket transaction! :D
