Guys is it compulsory to switch off and on the modem after 2am or else will it be counted as normal usage!!!!????

I think many are still confused over here !Initially it was not counted, Later it was counted fully if you dont disconnect at 2 and at 8Now, latest people over here found that, they charge the average DATA /hour and calculate ie, your session is 8PM to morning 10AM (next day), it is 14 hours. So, if you have downloaded 14GB in that 14 hours, they calculate as2-8AM =>6 hours. Total hours =>14total downloaded =>14GBPer hour =>14/14 =>1GBSo DATA during free time => 6 hours=>6GBNet chargable =>8 hrs =>8GB !And, i did see some post saying it reconnects @ 8AM. So, it is always to be safe than testing out and getting huge bill :)Hope someone with NU plan will clear your doubts !

!

I dont agree with that :P
how can they charge like that...then why are they providing exact usage timings......i dont think its like that

it is not like that...night unlimited means 2-8 watever usage is not counted...it is always safe to off and on ur modem at 2,...bsnl takes usage records at irregular intervals, so you cant predict how long ur seesion will be if you start using before 2 am...there are softwares which automatically resets ur modem at 2 am so you are assured of free usage...check Imran's broadband utility.:).

Friend, this is what i meant (That is why i mentioned 'Session' )

If the session is 5 hours, say, it started at 11.55 to 4.55, will that be counted?

I thought there can be sessions of even 10 hours! But, in my usage details, I can see maximum of 5 Hrs (In between modem restarts/power failure)

So, let me know how much it costs if his session starts at 11.45 to 4.45 (5hours) with a download of 5 GB. How much he will be charged ?

I am on an unlimited plan, and i wanted to shift to this plan. But many people have posted many different ways...

I searched for few threads.. I may be missing the correct tag. I seen few days back 'essbebe' saying the maths... forgot the thread !

May be he can post here so that confusion gets cleared !

Sorry for misguiding

edit :

session can be even of 10 hours !

Look here for the 'essbebe's reply to one thread, I think he said the same. If not, correct me. https://broadband.forum/bsnl-broadband/32140-what/#post219362

Customer care people says, they will calculate the session and divide accordingly and you dont have to pay for 6 hrs. We know that we wont be paying for 6 hrs. But, when i asked how the billing will be 'if my session is 4 hrs, and first two hours not downloading anything and later downloading around 2gb in free hours', he said, "We dont have any info about billing" ! I am sure even he is confused :P

members/mahehellraiser/If your IP is 59.xx.xx.xx for the usage portal there had been no complaints of excessive billing recently (adding NU also.) See the summary at the top of the usage page 2. IP 117.xx.xx.xx portal ( with 14digit ID) is undergoing changes, and some report 30minutes block ,and others continuous recording. One user starts at 0758 and switched off at 0828Am and claimed the usage is not counted. ( 30 minute block)3. MTNL clearly advises its users to switch off and restart for NU.4. Nobody wants trips to BSNL A.O's office, with a sheaf of print out/s of usage datafor revision of bill. 4.Better use auto timers/schedulers. BSNL Portal usage meter is FINAL , even if we use other BW meters.

last night i didnt switch off/on and i did some 400mb ......my last disconnection was at 1am....and the usage page is not updated from past 2 days!!!btw..i'm on 117...

update once you get to see the usage details, so that it would be helpful for many others !

how can this be??!...i thought bsnl unlimited usage was from 2-8 am!!...and there is no question of dividing usage with hrs or anythin...the rule is simple...watever usage between 2-8 am..not counted...thts it...
