Is it safe to run tubelights/LEDs/CFLs/Fans on an Online UPS?

Just curious. I was planning to put the entire load on my online UPS (at max I would only be running a fan and a light on it. Maybe two) instead of buying a new inverter. Would this be fine? Or UPS systems are designed for computers alone?

What's your UPA rating? How many VA/Watts?

A typical UPS can handle 400W with 5-15 minute battery time depending on load.

Anyway, even if you use UPS for fan/light. Won't you be bothered by constant beeping in backup mode?

i am not talking about the load. i am talking about the technology of power backup on an online ups. would it damage the fans/lights etc.

It all depends on volts. As long as it provides stable voltage, it should not be any issue

Computers are the most sensitive electronic appliances so I think there should be no problem.

Dunno. I have read that fans and lights do not work well on ups power.

UPS is basically a inverter with very short switching time.If your UPS is not a sine-wave you may observe some abnormal sound from fans and flickering from tubelight

i have an online ups from emerson i hope it works well. i have to call the emerson engineer for reinstallation. would check with him as well.

got tired of dealing with apc bullshit. so went ahead and spent around 75000 on the ups and 6 small batteries. no issues so far. hence want to avoid buying an inverter for fans and tubelights

the mission critical stuff is to keep the internet running and have the ability to watch television shows even during power cuts too bad i cannot control the stupid gateway of reliance at bhartiya mahila bank branch in my local market :\
