We all know Jio holds massive spectrum. Which is paired with tremendous backhaul capacity (sub sea cable network)

That is the reason why Jio provides truly unlimited data on 5G (Ever since 2022)

I’m wondering when would we see something like 5G slicing from Jio to postpaid customers. And how would the plans actually look like.

But then Jio still has network choking in crowded areas even with 5G SA and idk how this will get fixed.

imagine the uproar if jio actually did this lol. historically jio hasn't been strong on the premium end, so i doubt they'd go this route. their userbase is massive and overwhelmingly prepaid, and the postpaid offerings and customer experience aren't great either.

as for the choking in crowded areas, a lot of it is their spectrum mix. jio leans hard on low-band 700mhz for that wide coverage and availability, but low-band trades capacity and speed for reach. so in dense spots everyone's fighting over limited radio resources, and the aggressive pricing piled on a huge subscriber load that the infra hasn't scaled to match.

5g sa alone doesn't fix that, you need more mid-band capacity and denser small cells where the crowds are.

i use jio postpaid as its cheaper for a plan of 4 sims but im sceptical about introducing a premium postpaid plan as that would 100% come with a price hike probably matching other players at 350 per sim per month and it wont be good.

I am on the Jio 749 family plan with 4 SIMS including the primary. They charge me 150 per SIM added to the family plan.

So the bill comes to over Rs 1400/mth with GST. Jio isnt really cheap. If you work out the average cost/SIM it still comes to little more than Rs 350 per month.

@Kyle Crane please hard pass, Jio although working since Airtul brings it out but it shouldn't coz otherwise this will hit the massive prepaid subscriber base, we are already getting slower speeds and now if they slice then prepaid customers will get the slowest speed possible since the priority 5G will be given to postpaid. This will be disastrous for Jio mark my words.

I tried moving to Jio Postpaid(from Airtel postpaid) a few years ago and they asked me for a security deposit of 600 rupees 🤷 Immediately declined their offer

Yup, Airtel family plan with 4 SIMs costs me the same.

449 is the best alternative postpaid ig monthly comes down to 265 approx if really can add 4 members , also one can do 899 prepaid Long validity but a little more payout.
