Hi. I managed to get a sim and tele-verify using my iPhone (6s Plus). As soon as I inserted the sim, I got a carrier update.

But, Facetime and iMessage aren't getting activated as there's zero balance in the account. So, is there any way to send international SMS and make international calls through the carrier during the welcome offer period? I see no way to top up the account.

Secondly, I'm getting a download speed of around 20 MbPS (indoors). But, the App store downloads and Whatsapp media downloads are quite slow. Why's this? On my 16mbps Airtel broadband connection, they get downloaded in a jiffy.

Then, I inserted the sim in my iPad mini 2, there was no carrier update. I can't seem to force the update. Why's there no carrier update for iPad but only for iPhone?

I immediately got a signal on my iPad but I couldn't get the data to work. My Airtel sim worked instantly on the iPad. I finally managed to get the data working but I'm only getting around 9-10 mbps at best while I'm getting twice that speed on my iPhone. Why's this? I know iPhone 6s offers more bands and faster LTE speeds than Mini 2 but still 20 mbps shouldn't be a problem on the latter. Is it?

You cannot activate iMessage or Facetime on a Jio number since activating these services sends an international SMS to UK, which is not possible in Jio welcome offer. So you may use iMessage and Facetime using your icloud / Apple email id only.

Jio needs iOS 9.3 or up for it to work. I was on 8.4 earlier and voLTE never worked. But after upgrading the iOS to later, everything works fine.

Connectivity to Appstore and whatsapp download is also good. I get around 15 - 16 mpbs in speedtest.
