I currently have a JioFiber connection. As I recently got employed I would need to have the connection under my name to get reimbursed for the broadband costs. I contacted Jio and learned that I must cancel the old connection and get a new one under my name. As I will have to cancel anyway, I would like to consider another competitor and choose the better one.

The 999 plan of JioFiber offers 150mbps speed while Airtel offers 200mbps speed. I don't have a Jio STB so, I don't think I will be able to use any OTT offered with JioFIber. I already have an Amazon Prime subscription for 10 more months and I would only use Disney+ Hotstar even if the OTTs work without an STB. Airtel doesn't realy offer any other OTTs and I don't think I'll use Airtel's OTT app.

So, I request everyone to suggest what option to choose if I primarily want good download speeds and a little bit of customization to use AdGuard DNS.

Airtel has consistently good routing. If international voip calls, zoom sessions, Skype teams are your priorities, go for Airtel.

Jio has good routing mostly along Chennai, Singapore, Tokyo, HK. If those are your priority sites, you can choose Jio. If it’s Europe, North America, Middle East, then choose Airtel.

Had the same question. I'm also in Hyderabad, switched from ACT to Jio. Uptime is excellent and routing is fine but I have these issues :
1. DPI and next level censorship.
2. Shady firmware of router primarily the mac addresses being uploaded to Jio's servers.
3. Unable to set Adguard home (similar to pihole) DNS for IPv4 and IPv6 permanently. This issue is present in all Jio routers.
4. Speed throttling of popular websites like twitch,yt and reddit at peak hours, only way is to use VPN.
Can anyone using Airtel confirm if any of the issues can be resolved by switching to Airtel. Also do we get IPv6 in Hyderabad. Airtel in Hyderabad is direct and postpaid right?

Airtel is really becoming an asshole company. I specifically asked their marketing/sales guy to check if they have fiber or copper before payment.

After payment their installation guy told they don't have fiber at the location. 🤦

Was trying to avoid jio or act. Now will have to opt for jio.

Airtel has stopped replying on twitter to me, I lost about 15 days validity, despite that i went with Airtel as jio has DPI and very locked system. Now again they took payment when they cannot provide connection and trying to sell their vfiber to unsuspecting customers.

It's been almost a week now and I couldn't get jio connection too as they need to install a new box, old is full 🤦

Jio guy everyday tells he will get it done today.

Was avoiding act as my friend told they have very long down times. That's my last option now. Most connection in this building are provided by act.

@Smh why don't you escalate the matter to the nodal officer. Clearly specify that why Airtel is giving vfiber in your area when Fiber is advertised.

One can easily detect type of connection available by checking out the junction box in street.
Better escalate with jio as installing new box is easier than fiber rollout of airtel.
