Kerala Vision vs BSNL vs Fiber Zone

Guys how's KV these days for you?

I am switching home now, I currently have a 200 Mbps plan with Railwire and am hosting many servers at my home and also doing BGP through a VPS provider with a leased ipv6 subnet.

The new home where am migrating to seem to have Kerala Vision, Fiber Zone and BSNL. But Railwire doesn't seem to provide services there. Just wondering what's the best ever out of the above 3? At least I need Railwire like connectivity speeds and latencies, which has been very good for me so far.

I have Kerala Vision and BSNL FTTH at home, both come via the same LCO. KV can offer me max 30 Mbps over here and it's consistent. Unfortunately, they aren't able to give me higher speed plans. I had KV initially but it went down more times than I'd have liked it to. After talking with the LCO about this, they mentioned they provide BSNL FTTH and that could give me better speeds and I did just that.

Now, I have both KV and a 200 Mbps FTTH connection from BSNL. BSNL has been, to my surprise, quite excellent in performance (except for the annoying attempts to inject ads which I blocked in my router). I only had one major downtime ever which lasted an entire day cause the LCO's hardware shit the bed and they didn't have any immediate backup hardware. Otherwise, oddly, both networks never quite went down at the same time. I don't measure the uptime but BSNL has been far more reliable than KV for me.

Not sure how you'll be getting your connection but hope that helped.

I had KV and BSNL till a while back. KV's speeds weren't dependable. BSNL has downtimes occasionally, but speeds to both domestic and international servers have never been off my plan speeds.

So I think I don't seem to find any trace of the ISP FiberZone, I've conducted various tests at multiple places through 3 of the ISPs mentioned above.

BSNL provides good latency to all the domestic and international servers, but their promised speed of 60 Mbps (plan speed) could not be achieved in some servers.
Fiberzone has been providing consistent speeds of their assured plan (25 mbps), but latency to Singapore servers seem a bit off, I was getting like 60-80 ms, while with KV and BSNL I get below 50 ms.
Kerala Vision was also the same, they were providing the promised speed and latency is quite fine.

But things went downhill, when I tested the Fibrezone connection near my new home, latency to Germany and London seems way off after multiple tests, I was getting like 800 ms on Germany server hosted by vServe and 250+ ms on London servers... Upon contacting the service provider he was blabbering, and sending me screenshots of speedtest.net app to their own (nearest Fibrezone server). So there's no hope they have anymore knowledge about it, so it's in my interest which connection to choose, rest I've to deal with the main company directly instead of LCO.

I haven't tested Kerala vision and BSNL yet, but they seem to exist in my neighbourhood.. I hope I find a better connection...

The thing is the same LCO is providing all the connections.

If LCO is giving you the same connection, there's a good chance for you to try both.

@pillaicha I guess the physical connection is the same then right? So if I request to change the provider it can be done with the same physical connection and modem or ?

@ShihabSoft Leaving aside the account creation and LCO side switching stuff, they will tell u to enter a different username and password, and mostly different VLAN ID and that's all, you are on the BSNL network. You mostly have to pay LCO for payments, but that depends I guess

IP in my case was 117.254.84.212. Let me know if you think there's a safe range of IPs they are using that I could add to the router to improve the blocklist. But so far, adding this alone meant no ads.
