Hi,Can someone suggest a LCD monitor for my mac mini?I am not into video/graphic editing but I will be viewing a lot of photos/movies on it. The system will run almost round the clock.I am looking for something which gets the job done.Quality + economy is the key word here.I haev never used LCD monitor before so I am very confused as to what to buy. Kindly recommend a monitor with the price if you can.I will be buying it from nehru place in new delhi.

What is the price range you are looking at?I have bought LG226WTQ got approx 13k. Its a 22 inch LCD that has a TN panel. Its got HDCP so you should be able to watch HD movies if Mac mini supports HDCP.If you can spend 17 - 18k then you might look at Dell as well. For 10k, you can get excellent 19 inch monitor from Samsung.

I am looking at a price range of 7-8K. Also, if it could connect with my play station 2 it will be added bonus!

At nehru place, there was one from Acer 17" worth 7500 bucks.

There was LG 17" for 8500. Samsung 19" was for 9200.

What is a TN panel?? I think mac mini can play HD movies.

Here is a quote from Apple mac mini site.

Graphics and video support

[*]Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory1
[*]DVI video output to support digital resolutions up to 1920 by 1200 pixels; supports 20-inch Apple Cinema Display and 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display; supports coherent digital displays up to 154MHz; supports noncoherent digital displays up to 135MHz
[*]VGA video output (using included adapter) to support analog resolutions up to 1920 by 1080 pixels
[*]S-video and composite video output to connect directly to a TV or projector (using Apple DVI to Video Adapter, sold separately)
[/list]

ViewSonic VG1930wm should be for 8.5 - 9.5k. Its a 19 inch monitor.I tink best bet it to carry some of your photographs / videos /docs on a DVD.And compare some monitors in this price range. See which one you like.

That is the problem. I know squat about monitors. I wouldn't know what to look for! :(

Can you give some buying tips? Any idea how to know if the monitor can plug to my play station2 and tv tuner?

also, if monitor has dvi in is it better than vga?

i dont think you'll be able to hook your ps2 directly youll either need a VGA box or plug your ps2 in your tv tuner , if you use the VGA box you will get crappy video and no audio directly and if your tv tuner is not high end then youll experience lags while playing

ya 22inch is the sweet spot nowadays, 17-19 if you are on a budget, and 24 inch if you're rich :)im waiting for Dell to drop the price of their 24 inch "entry" TN panel... drool... 24 inches, full-HD at 1920x1200

I am on a budget. If I weren't I would have bought an iMac. :(

I guess 17-19 inch is the one for me.

From what I haev gathered, I should be lookign for dvi in and widescreen while choosing a monitor??

Can you recommend any with the above specs in mind?? :)
