Lg split ac real time energy consumption

I recently bought LG split 2 ton inverter ac and was checking if we can get a real time info about power being consumed on the display itself.

Is there any way to do that ?

searched the user manual and it says press a button for 3 seconds and you will get usage info on AC display but I didn’t got any success.

You'll need to check if your AC model has the feature. Usually a single user manual is made for few models with markings mentioning what features are available for what models.

If you have an AC clamp meter and are familiar with safe usage of the instrument you can check it at the wall socket leads. Inline ammeters can be fitted but may require a bit of re-wiring by an experienced electrician.

Normally start up amps in an AC is very high, about 15-25A, possibly more, depending on the compressor model and if it is a direct or inverter design. Running amps about 5-10A again depending on the model. Remember inverter ACs have a variable speed compressor so it can be difficult to get a reading. Check the manufacturers site they normally mention the max current draw and steady state consumption.

LG manual is pretty shit. Does not mention model number with individual features.

On my model, app has electricity consumption details. Haven't noticed ac display showing energy consumption using remote so far.

@Rickysin I couldn't find the info either. They only mention cooling capacity in watts (2000-7000) instead of BTU or tons. However as a guesstimate, 2 ton inverter should draw about 1.8-2.5 KW at steady state without the inverter function varying the speed. I would suggest asking the LG Helpline authoritative information.

I use a Daikin 1.8T inverter split. These inverter machines including your LG are really efficient compared to standard AC. AC bill increases by about 1300/mth for 11-12 hrs of running mostly at night. This is in MH where power unit rates are high.

If you really want to monitor power consumption, you can get the Wipro 16A Smart Plug that has energy monitoring. It supports upto 3000W.

I have it installed for the two ACs I have (1.2 and 1.4, both inverter ACs from Voltas). You can see the live, daily and monthly power consumption like this.

On average how much (in hours) you used per day against those 50-ish kWh burn?

No specific usage pattern. I mostly use it in the night time (not daily though) and schedule it to turn off after 3-4 hrs. It's set on ECO mode with a temp of 26°C.
