HI! I'm looking to buy a used GPRS & EDGE enabled modem / mobile in good working condition. Sellers may contact with details of (1) age of the instrument, (2) make & features etc (3) and price expected. thank you

I don't think you'll find a cheap one.you can check the following options1). buy a micromax 3G USB modem, costs around 2500, comes with a warranty and speed is good, and excellent when using bsnl 3G2). check stores like vodafone, airtel, idea, these all stores always have list of customers who have closed their connection and are looking for someone to buy a modem from them. usually price should be around 1000 to 1250.one friend purchased the Huawei device from such store as he lost his along laptop recently and went to close the connection when the store girl arranged one from a customer who closed his postpaid data plan recently.he paid Rs.1100/- for a 6 month old

Thanks for the information "ghpk". How about those china made gprs enabled mobile phones. they too serve the purpose. don't they ? hope to get them cheap for the time being, atleast till I migrate to 3g or wimax later on.

frankly speaking, you'll have hard time with configuring them. also most such mobile would be non-3G
so why to invest money on it.

if you need non-3G usb modem, a second hand would be 700-800 and best would be to go for 3G enabled one so you don't need to buy it again and again.
check with local store in your town, i am sure they could arrange.

HI! As per your suggestion, yesterday i visited aircel, airtel, idea and bsnl offices. 1) aircel is not offering any modems for their gprs connection. customer has to arrange 2) idea is offering only new instrument @1600 (no seconds) and also their monthly charges and usage limits are different for gprs use on mobile & that thru the netsetter on a pc. moreover their office and airtel office were crowded places.3) bsnl is offering 3g instrument for 2500. (here too no seconds)In my locality (a valley) aircel and vodafone are the nearby towers and offer good coverage. bsnl coverage is ok. reliance, docomo and uninor are in shadow zones.
