try downloading some big file like XP SP 3 from microsoft's site or softpedia using a download manager like flashget,IDM etc to see how much speed you actually get.if you are getting around 180KBps or above then you connection is fine.as of now there is no trick to get increased speeds from link-removed unless you have a premium account.
