Since it's diesel, you should get decent value. With the gap between petrol and diesel prices rising, brand loyalty concerns are being overridden by economic considerations in the used car market I presume. 6-6.25 lacs sounds like a good price.
i would be happy to get 6.25 lakhs for this model. that would mean a depreciation of Rs. 1.2 lakh per year

did u tell him its by Mahindra btw oh yeah. i told him that i like the new model from mahindra and he immediately recognized the model i was talking about. the car is being reviewed on all the news and finance channels which is what he watches all day long. he was not concerned about the company. he has no idea about brands... he was just worried that i am going to waste 1/2 years worth of savings on another car purchase even though i do not even drive the car much as i work from home. cars are a terrible purchase in terms of resale value.
A few cars depreciate very less in value. And some depreciate very fast. In terms of savings it makes maximum sense to buy the former cars new and the latter used. One of my friends bought a 2009 SX4 Vvt zxi run around 20k kms for 5 lacs. Innovas on the other hand have spectacular resale. Someone on team bhp posted that they sold a 1.4 lac kilometer run innova for 7 lacs.That is why newly launched cars turn out to be gambles. If it becomes a hit, you will lose very less when you sell it. If it is a dud, you are screwed. Depends on your luck.
i think mahindra cars also retain their value. they probably have more fans in india compared to tata.
they make some exciting models. i was previously planning to go for Mahindra Thar jeep model. but logic prevailed.
