mail from airtel we wish to inform you that speed on each planis the maximum speed with the contentation ration of 1:2 and downloadratio of 1:8.Regards,Rahul MagarCustomer Care - WestAirtel Telemedia Servicesthus while surfing in a 2 mbps plan u will surf in the range of 1 mbps to 2 mbps while downloading it is in the range of 256 kbps - 2 mbps

What the f**k was that means? Is that true for all global ISPs or restricted(?) only to Airtel? I guess even if this practice is uncommon, Airtel will always ready to adopt anything to cheat thier loyal customers!!! :wall:

speed varies among all service providers. airtel should start providing speed of 8 mbps at least in limited data transfer plans. then we shall gettrue download speed in range of 1 -- 8 mbps. contentation ratio defines the speed which varies while surfing or downloading, for example if the download contentation ratio is 1:8 in a 2 mbps plans then download varies between 256 kbps to 2 mbps (( 2048kbps/8 = 256 kbps))

this is sad..but i feel airtel speeds r quite stable..never had any speed fluctuating problems

guys pls wake up

their promised speed is 2mbps

but they give us 256kBps

its the same

8bits(b)=1byte(B)

@above

Its 256kbps mentioned, not 256KBps(2.1mbps)

well guys the technology is called "A"DSL...A in ADSL stands for ASYNCHRONOUS which means on higher speeds upload is "BOUND" to be slower than download...and this is true for all the ISP globally...

dont get worried.dl speed is 250~kpbsor 2mbit psits same as before.you dont get 2048kilo BYTES per second dl speed on any 2mbps plan anywhere in the world.
