New Report Suggests Marvel's Requested Stake In Spider-Man Was Less Than Initial Reports

Initial reports stated that Disney had asked for a 50% stake in regards to upcoming Spider-Man movies, but in a new report from THR that number isn't as high. The number cited here is a 30% stake, which is still significant but 20% can make a world of difference when you're talking about over a billion dollars made at the box office, which Spider-Man: Far From Home achieved.

Here's how the numbers would work if that deal was in place for Far From Home (on its simplest terms by the way, as there is plenty of smaller details in contracts that could shake this final number up). The budget for Far From Home was $160 million, and you often double that for advertising costs. If you double it that number becomes $320 million. Subtracting $320 from the box office pull of 1,110,357,640 billion leaves us with $790,357,640, and a 30% cut of that is $237,107,292 million for Marvel and the rest for Sony ($553,250,348).

Tom Holland's Spider-Man Appears on Marvel's D23 Banner

D23 kicks off this weekend in Anaheim, California, celebrating all things Disney. This, of course, includes Marvel Studios and the MCU. Those in town for the convention have started posting photos of the ads and banners around the Anaheim Convention Center online, and they are sure to make Marvel fans sigh. The main Marvel banner features just three heroes: Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.

If you take a look at the Instagram slideshow below, the Marvel Studios banner is in the fourth photo. Check it out:

Tom Holland Planned for Weekend Convention Appearance Amid Disney Sony Spider-Man Drama

Tom Holland will attend Pennsylvania’s Keystone Comic Con Sunday, August 25, amid what has become a very public divorce between Sony and Marvel Studios parent company Disney over Spider-Man’s future in the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Holland will participate in a panel and will be on hand for autograph signings and photo opportunities, priced at $250 each.

Kevin Feige Just Teased the Fantastic Four's MCU Debut

While accepting the Stan Lee Builder Award at the Saturn Awards last night, Feige told a touching story about the namesake of the honor and also revealed a deleted scene from Iron Man, one that included surprising references to Spider-Man and the X-Men. But Feige's office also included a poster of the cover of Fantastic Four #1, possibly indicating his next project for Marvel Studios.

It seems likely that Marvel Studios and Feige will prioritize the debut of the Fantastic Four over the X-Men, especially given how sprawling the latter franchise is and how the previous film performed the worst of all movies in the series.

"All of that is spoilers, but I'm extremely excited about those characters, and about bringing Marvel's first family up to the sort of platform and level they deserve," Feige said to Variety.

Translation: Kevin Feige has confirmed the release of an "Infinity Saga" boxset for this year, with exclusive alternative / deleted scenes. And one of them has already been shared! It's an alternate version of Iron Man's post-credit scene, where Nick Fury quotes the mutants and the radioactive spider.
