Hi allMy friend is a VF Prepaid user and had chosen to port out when MNP was launched (Jan 20, 2011). They offered him free minutes to retain him which had to be consumed within 2 months. He was asked to sign on a VF letter headed page, which mentioned that he has withdrawn his porting request. I suspect some foul play here. Now after more than 7 months, he sent a message again to port out. Error message he got was 'message barred'.Please advise.

Just as u suspect, I guess all the "CATCH" lies in that VF letter headed page which was signed by ur friend. Can u post what was exactly written in that letter?

Its not the error msg of Porting Rejection request, It may be something different Issue. Bcoz even if someone have signed a contract with Vodafone or any other operator to continue services for 6 months or year in some retention benefit, they can anytime send sms " PORT to 1900 " . The only difference in case of contractual agreement will lead to rejection of PORT OUT request, but at any point of time one can get the UPC Code. If someone is barring this service, it is against the TRAI rules. So, ask your friend to Lodge a complaint and keep that docket number with him for further escalation.

C'mon, u have already seen this issue, u shud look to solve it, rather than asking the customer to fill up the feedback form. We already know that method of complaining!!@ Topic......U cant gauge what was written in the letter that the person had signed. May be the messaging to the number 1900 itself is barred pursuant to that agreement.

Hi all, thanks to everyone for your inputs.

So far my friend has called twice to the Dedicated Number for Complaints at 198. However, they only place him on hold never to come back online. So now they are avoiding talking about it altogether. This is frustrating.

I checked the Vodafone letter which my friend signed. It simply has its signature for the declaration that he is withholding his port out request. This is way back in January 2011.

@VodafoneIndia: Entered the details as requested. Hope to receive a reply.

Hi Jaymin, isn't this illegal?

Yes it is! I mean there cant be any contract that limits ur freedom of choice as a consumer. I think Mascot also mentioned this.In this case i suggest to wait for a day or 2, if they dont revert, then directly take these people to TRAI.
