Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 or Moto G2?

Looking at the hardware, the Canvas Nitro is better but I'm not sure if it will receive the Android Lollipop update.

I use my phone primarily for chatting, browsing and maps for navigation. I'd prefer a display for use in sunlight and proper battery.

really depends. if you want solid phone with good software support, go for moto g2. camera is decent and lollipop is guaranteed.

canvas nitro looks good on paper but it has many negative reviews on net. also mediatek processors have gps locking problems

Ok.. I've ordered Moto G2 and a clear screen guard. I've heard that you don't need a screen guard because it's gorilla glass but I ordered magpie screen guard from flipkart just to be on the safe side...

The screen will have minor scratches if you don't use a screen guard

yup. get a screenguard. screen might be 'scratch resistant' but not shatter proof.
