  • It is mandatory to do a recharge with a voucher of Minimum Rs. 128 or above to avail services post tariff validity period. In case of recharge with PV-128 or top up voucher greater than Rs.128, service validity will be extended by 28 days. In case of recharge with STV/ Combo Voucher greater than Rs. 128 the service validity will be extended with validity of respective Combo/ STV Voucher.
  • In case customer has main balance equal or more than Rs.49 and no recharge is done with a voucher of Minimum Rs.128 or above at the end of tariff validity period, then minimum amount of 49 will be debited and tariff of Combo Voucher 49 will be applied.
  • In case of non-recharge with a voucher of Minimum Rs. 128 or above at the end of tariff validity period, Airtel reserves the right to provide the plan benefits in a curtailed manner at its own discretion during the grace period of upto 15 days. In case of non-recharge with a voucher of Minimum Rs. 128 or above post the grace period, all the services will be suspended.

49 plan still show 28 day validity 🤔

Update: ₹79 is the min update needed monthly (28 days). Do note, there's no outgoing SMS. There is however ₹64 talk time + 200MB data. If you need outgoing SMS, you need the ₹128 pack minimum.

Does this supersede the annual packs that they used to have? I have a prepaid number that I only keep for incoming SMS and for using in India when I am there so I used to get the 1498 recharge which lasted the whole year. But I got an SMS yesterday that outgoing calls have been barred, please recharge even though the Airtel app shows 200 days of validity left.

Sounds like a scam or a mistake. I use the same plan. It doesn’t supersede it. ₹1498 is a year valid. No need to even have balance.

Happened same 2 days back with mums airtel no also on1499 when she told me to recharge.
Now working fine. When you in too much hurry.

If anyone can remember or not, when this smart recharge thing first came to light (that you have to recharge every month for at least 49 rupees to keep your sim activated) there was a great offer on the Airtel thanks app. For rupees 2500 (one time) a user can get lifetime validity.
Interestingly they later removed that from their "Plans section". I wonder what happened to those who recharged that.
