I am using D-Link glb502t and i think its dying.
At times it will give me different errors on different OS and simply wont connect . And sometimes it will just connect out of nothing.
Errors like 651 for win 8, 687 for xp, 815 for vista.
Interestingly when its connecting, it will connect fine on all these 3 different OS . And when not connecting will give those respective errors.
And web interface for modem firmware just wont work smooth. It will take endless time to load and sometimes wont even load.
Any idea if firmware update will work ? Or i shud give up on it ?
Any suggestion if i need to buy another basic wired modem+router.

I am on the lookout for a basic modem router too but decent ones seem to be hard to come by. D-Link, TP-Link are the most common around 900rs. Am planning to take Asus DSL-N10e for ~1800and disable routing and use it for modem only. Yet to finalize though. On your issue, I would try an upgrade of firmware first though.

Why are you using bridge mode? Switch to PPPOE auth. Save username/password in modem.

Yes i did that yesterday.
So far its fine.
Lets see if it stays stable for few days.

I am using TP-Link TD8817. I am experiencing far lower CRC errors and no disconnections. If you are within 1km from exchange go for it. Otherwise go for any broadcom based one if you live farther away.

I just pulled the plug on Asus Wireless-N150 ADSL Modem Router (DSL-N10E) - got a pretty decent deal at Rs 1732 on snapdeal and using existing SD Cash I was able to bring it down further. In stores it is close to 2K and above.
I will be using it in Modem only mode with wireless disabled and in bridge mode. My existing router will dial PPPoE. This is how I have always used my adsl modems and not had an issue so far.

Windows – Control Panel
You can also override the automatic DNS server selection and set a custom DNS server on each individual device. On Windows, you can change the DNS server for each network adapter separately — this means that you’ll have to change it for both your Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections if you use both wireless and wired network connections on a laptop.
You can do this from the Network and Sharing Center. View your list of network connections, right-click the one you want to configure, and select Properties. Select the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option in the list, click the Properties button, and enter your desired DNS server addresses. For more details, read this full guide to changing your DNS server with screenshots.
