Hi all, I have a broadband connection for abt 1 year now. I think the modem given to me was a MT882. Recently I got a new Linksys wireless router (WRT54GC) and want to use it for my laptop. Firstly i checked the router config given in net and was trying to configure the same. I changed the setting from bridge to PPP, but when i click on the plug net doesnt get connected. Please let me know if i have to do some configuration. Thanx in advance

Hi, The wireless in my notebook works fine since i have been using this for around a year+ in Thailand. Now i am trying to connect the modem + wireless router which is giving me trouble. I am not sure wat are the network settings that i need to do for this.

set your mt882 modem to bridged mode not ppp and then set your Linksys to do the pppoE dialling (not pppoA or anything else) and provide correct username/password.if you are using wifi then make sure linksys is configured to provide wireless IP to laptop. my linksys by default has wireless disabled so you need to enable it first and make sure the wireless MODES matching for example A, B or G...if you have an old laptop maybe it doesnt have G mode so you need to select B mode for wifi :)also make sure the ethernet cabel coming out from your modem is going into the correct ethernet port in linksys, it should be the "internet" or input port not one of the output LAN ports numbered 1, 2, 3 or 4...

Hi, I tried this setting in Linksys web admin, using PPPoE with linksys while the modem is in bridge mode. But its always giving me Error connecting to PPPoE server. Wat all could be the issue. And i am sure the username and password i hav given is proper.

strange, it works for me and i dont need to do additional settings...can you re-confirm if your modem is really in bridged mode and not stuck in some other mode, save and reboot the modem once more, and connect directly to pc and check modem webpage to make sure?and also be sure the ethernet cable is connected to correct port on Linksys router :)

Keep the MT882 modem in bridge mode and enable Dhcp in mt882 and keep the adsl modulation as multimode and save and reboot the modem. Then configure the Linksys router in pppoe mode ,first check by connecting ethernet cable and check for wireless.Dont assign ip address in lan settings(open dns)

best option would be to reset all the routers and modems to factory default setting by pressing reset button. then do as others have suggested only change wired router+modem to bridge mode (give vci value if required)and on Linksys make a connection in pppoe mode. then connect modems rj45 to wan port (internet) of linksys. and connect linksys to ur pc. power on and viola..
