mumbai mtnl prepaid sim comes with preactivated 3g service. wherever you've 3g you would be on 3g else you are switched onto EDGE/GPRS no seperate subscription required...

Is this also applicable to other Telecom Operators who offer 3G service?

i did not need to change my sim or do anything special to activate 3g on my airtel sim. i just ran a wizard to activate 3g on my phone and it was functional within a few minutes.

If I buy a 3G sim and subscribe to Mtnl 3G service but suppose in some areas 3G is not available will the service automatically switch to EDGE or GPRS mode or do I have to separately subscribe to EDGE or GPRS and pay extra for this?

Yes it will drop down to a GPRS/EDGE connection in some areas or even when the 3G signal goes weak.If your 3G device has a feature of forcing a 3G connection, then in normal circumstances, the connection will remain in 3G mode always, but i guess in non 3G areas u will not get a connection unless u reset the 'only 3G' mode

Hey guys i called the customer they said me That the limits of mumbai plans are initial capIf the limit is reached within 1 month , then they will not renew the plan ( Because she gave me a reason that people were supplying their internet in their locality and were earing out of it as it was unlimited plan )But if the user didnt cross the limitWithin one month their plan will be considred as unlimited ! Can i get a conformation on this please...

Hmm thats a very vague reply that she gave.Anyways even if it were so, i find it hard to believe it anyways because half of the time, apart from us, even they don't know what they are saying :D

what is that all about if you don't cross your cap then it will be considered as unlimited? if you don't cross your limit obviouly it will be unlimited for that because he/she hasn't finished his bandwidth for that month, highly doubt that will convert that sim from next month onwards as unlimited without any fup...

call back again and speak to another mtnl customer care agent and see...maybe that rep didn't get enough sleep lolll
