MTNL 512kbps Plan

TriB UL data-512 - Rs 1299Anyone using this plan? How much download speed do you get in it? I would have gone for Airtel Explorer 1099 plan but airtel is not available in my area. :madness: :madness:

usually you get the speed which has been advertised.... i am on a 2Mbps plan and i get the full download speed.

Also every internet connection will operate at ~90% to 95% of the advertised speed because of overheads....

so ideally you should be getting around 480 kbps = 60 kBps..

thats not entirely correct..in Airtel they compensate for PPPoE overhead etc and most people get speeds greater than the advertised rate..

Its only MTNL where speed is restricted by DSLAM sync rate so PPPoE overhead has to be factored in ...there is about 16 % loss in MTNL deducted from whatever the sync rate is.

And they haven't changed the plan yet. I told them to change it to 512kbps UL on 30 july. they said it will be changed on 1 august.Does changing plan takes time? or should I call them again?

According to their rule, it should be done on the 1st of the month. Check around 9 - 9.30 am & if it's not done, then pester them till you get it done. They are a sloppy bunch so its difficult to predict how they act. :ishock:

Still nothing. I checked the account, Its still saying I have "TriB_Unlimited_256Kbps" plan.

Just called MTNL CC.

They said it will take some time but it will be definitely changed today. They also said so many people are changing plan.

For that you will have to make more calls or send an email to GM/DGM broadband.
