@dhasu Do you have dialers in both your laptop and desktop with the same settings? I ask this because I never knew it was possible to set multiple devices on a bridge mode on MTNL simultaneously, the way you have been using it. Suppose you dial the connection from the laptop first and its connected, do you dial again from the desktop to get it connected at the same time. How does it work? Please explain.
Also somebody tell me if this possible on a wireless ADSL2+ modem router?
Yes I have a dialer on both. I dial from laptop and then dial again from pc, vice versa also works, speed is distributed. On the usage page of mtnl site, i get the time and usage for both connections. All that i have done is using bridge mode and creating PPPOE dialer on desktop & Laptop. I have my username postfixed with "@a"
It was looking like a MAC Id issue from the start..problem was that MTNL implemented port binding on ur line when u had logged on from ur Desktop but instead of using the MAC id of the port to which ur modem connects at the DSLAM in the exchange they erroneously used the MAC id of ur Desktop lan card which is why u could no longer log in from the laptop as it had a lan card with different MAC ID and also the PPPoE mode failed to work because the MTNL server was rejecting the MAC ID of the router as well
to resolve the issue they simply released the MAC id set in the BRAS..capturing the real MAC ID of the DSL port
But how did this happen all of sudden, I mean it was working smoothly and then all of a sudden, it stopped because of the MACID messup. What could be the reason, just wanted to know so that i could avoid this in future?
