MTNL Broadband 2 MBPS Unlimited @ 599/month

Rock21.....But in 2007, i think Reliance Wired line was the first one to come up with an All Unlimited Plan - i had MTNL Rs.400 plan at time, and got a Free limit of about 700MB....But then Reliance came up with this unlimited plan - although speed was meagre 75kbps @ Rs.450pm to start with, they upgraded it to 150 kbps in a short while. And today, they offer u 300 kbps for that same rates of Rs.450pm......and mind u, that 300kbps always shoots up to some MBs per second on a REGULAR Basis.....Whereas in MTNL, if they say 300kbps for Rs.395, they give u an effective speed of 5 Kilobytes per second......forget about 30, they give u a speed of 5 - do u call that Broadband by any means??And when u approach them with complaints, after 2 odd months of patience, all u get is a call from their side saying everything from our side is clear......Or they send peon like guys at ur home who say "I will report it to my Senior", and only God knows who that senior is......And they hire such Witty employees, who answer ur phone once, and then just put the receiver aside, and the phone gets engaged for about an hour or so.....This is the brilliance of MTNL!!Whereas in Reliance, when i had problem, i called up their CC at 5AM - yes 5 in the morning, and they registered my complaint, and the Linemen were at my residence by 11:00 Am that very morning.....This is the commitment u need from a service provider - which u never get from a PSU - and if that PSU is MTNL, u cant even dream of that kind of service.....

That sir, is a wrong statement. I agree it has happened in your case but you cannot generalize it by saying "they give u an effective speed of 5 Kilobytes per second." Most MTNL users do get the rated speed or thereabouts. I myself was on the 495 unlimited combo plan and was getting consistently over 280 kbps on speedtests. That works out to 35 kilobytes per second.
Perhaps you could state "they gave me a speed of 5 kilo......" and that could be accurate.

Who's your ISP, again?

Are you joking?
In 2007, MTNL Delhi definitely had unlimited 256 kbps (In fact they had it from mid 2006 onwards). In fact they were the first to say that the minimum speed on broadband will be 256. Till then people like airtel, tata were selling 64kbps and 128 kbps plans. Before that of course we had night unlimited as far back as 2005.
I dont remember the charges. Maybe if we dig some old threads here, we can get it.

@bahadurbillaMy ISP is Reliance.....(Wired line) I got fed up of the "Excellent" service & Customer support of MTNL, and also the Consumer Protection provided by TRAI, and finally feeling completely helpless, i switched over to [email protected] may be in Delhi, and still, as u have mentioned about charges, do let me know the charges of that unlimited plan.....coz even here they had few such plans, which had exorbitant rates. A common man cannot afford that - u have to be a Business organisation of any type, to afford it.As far as Night unlimited plans are concerned, i had heard of such plans around that time of 2005 itself from Hathway and such other Cable network providers.......again with very exorbitant rates - I remember very well - We used to discuss amongst friends of "SHARING" a connection - 1 of us would take a connection, and we would divide the cost amongst ourselves - such were the charges. So, what i meant was "Full day, ALL UNLIMITED" plans, which are affordable by a common [email protected] not just with me - many of my relatives complain of such low speeds. And i have checked it for myself. But they are not as Internet savvy, to get over here and share their problems. And they arent enough lucky to have better options - they have to stay with MTNL.

@ Jymn : I don't know which MTNL are you referring to !My experience with MTNL has been extraordinary. I am using MTNL since 2.5 years and I have faced only a single disconnection ( major one) & 2-3 minor ones. Before I could call them, they themselves called whether my net was working fine and then got to rectify the problem within an hour.On a plan entitled 64KBps I get 70KBps & at times 2 mbps also ( for nearly 3 months I got this speed)For me MTNL is the best !

Rock21....May be u r lucky enough then!! Coz i have had a very bitter experience with them.....if u go through one of the other threads, u will see my agony!!I really hope that since u r happy, u dont have to face a situation like me.....And the positives u r speaking of, are the positives i m experiencing with Reliance wired line - its surprising, but true!!

Oh, so you have switched already. Are you happy with Reliance? What plan are you on?

Yes, i am very happy with it......as i have mentioned - 450pm, 300kbps speed, which regularly shoots up to a few MBs per second......and DL & UL are at equal speeds. To top it all, the CC is much more responsive - again repeating this as well - when i had a problem with 1 out of my 2 Reliance Wired Line connections, i had called them up at 5 in the Morning, and the linemen were there by 11:30 that very day....and we found out that the problem wasnt due to their fault - there was some Diwali clean up work going on at our terrace, due to which the connection had loosened!!So, to summarise - my experience with their Wired Internet service is really great!!
