MTNL Broadband 2 MBPS Unlimited @ 599/month

It's true, that it's their inefficiency. But, my brother actually faced a lot of troubles because of this inefficiency. And, has finally moved onto Reliance. Indeed it is individual's opinion to choose provider. But, when people give biased reviews. Then it's a bit annoying :D

^ Bias is probably too strong a term in this case. People recommend based on their experiences. So far I have the experience of VSNL (dialup days), YOU (then called IQARA) and MTNL. I can write about my experience with any of them but I cannot run down something I have not tried myself.Jaymin on the other hand has every right to wax eloquent about Reliance because he has enjoyed great service with them and had a bad experience with MTNL.Others here write well about MTNL because they have found it the best for them. I don't see anything wrong in that. You yourself seem to have have bitter experience with MTNL. Like I felt with Jaymin, I think you have every right to remove yourself out of the clutches of MTNL.But it is true that many people are satisfied that they are getting more for what they pay from MTNL than anyone else because, when you get down to the lowest level, every single one of these ISPs has bad customer service when averaged out over the whole country. Peace!Enjoy whichever ISP works best for you.

If you see MTNL better 4 years Experience :D Unlimited Plan, No FUP No port blocking with Single Static IP and always Online even You can configure any Router and Modem with MTNL No Login issue like private ISP HTTP Authentication irritating ISP welcome page always open, you can only use single PC at a time.

1. If you are lucky, you will get good service with MTNL
2. It's easier to fight with private players, according to my personal experience. It doesn't matter if they tend to settle any dispute on there side. Atleast you meet educated people. They are straight forward. Sir dard kam hai. I would rather pay Rs10,000 than to do sarak sarak with our sarkar. Nuff said.

Samm.....I think Emil has said the best thing - although we have had bad experiences with MTNL, and many others too would have.....but still, there are people here, who have had good experience with it.And similarly, when i, and many others say good about Reliance - its clear that we had superb experience with them....may be some of them wouldnt have been as lucky! So, with any ISP, i think we should tolerate till a level - if it appears to be getting out of control, then the best policy is to remove that ISP, and get in the one which we can trust more.......As Emil said, i tolerated MTNL's service for about 2 months.......and after seeing no end to this road, i just changed over my road, which took me to my destination!!

I am not criticizing any company here. MTNL or Reliance or be it Fivenet. " 2 months ", it's a long period. If you ask me.

you mean that area manager and GM or even a Broadband Incharge in MTNL are un-educated persons, and above all MTNL is not involved in doing false business, i think you can predict name of ISP's on your on in the above said category. Its always easy to blame somone.

I think that is true of every operator not just MTNL. It may even be that there are more people with MTNL complaints because they have a bigger installed base. But I guess percentage wise they all even out to the same level of competence or lack thereof.

On the contrary. I cannot dispute what you are saying because it must be your experience but here is my take based on my own exp. If you call the call center of a private company, do they ever let you escalate and put you in touch with the person who can make a difference? With the MTNL call center it is very easy to get the numbers of the concerned people in your exchange. At least that has been my experience. Once you get the right people, they do actually care. At one point when they took several days to locate a problem (trust me - intermittent problems are always hard for anyone) I told them that Tikona had a site on my terrace and it would be easy for me to shift to them. They acted and immediately changed my cable and my problem was fixed. It may be that this experience is only at my exchange and the guys at yours are bad. So bottom line is that I would tend to take suggestions from users who stay in the same locality as me to find out which ISP is best for the place I need.
