MTNL Broadband Plan for Rs. 49 with 200MB data transfer

Just noticed new plan by MTNL on their website.200MB for 49Rs. so it means that modem rent (50Rs) is more than plan rent

i think for Rs.49 plus Rs.5 (ST) plus modem rental of Rs.50, a total of Rs. 104 is a good backup to have when the internet on the main plan goes down.400mb for 249 is another excellent backup as it includes phone rental and modem rental. If your landline usage is low, then the phone rental comes to around Rs.150, add modem rental of Rs.50 and u have a 400mb package for just rs. 49!

this is good plan actually.recently, for my uncle, i got phone on loyalty scheme. along with diwali offer of free connection and free modem.but for uncle, 199plan and 500MB was too much. with this plan his bill wud come down by 150Rs.so good for very low usage users.

mtnl should give this plan away for free to get more people connected to the net. 49 rupees to get people connected to the web is nothing. just charge 55 rupees as modem rent with taxes.modem rent is anyways pure profits.

if we are to believe mgcarley... bandwidth in india could cost below 10 rupees per GB... so for 200MB... the charges comes to around 2 rupees... its a sheer robbery to charge 50 bucks for it.

that is why MTNL was offering modem for free. they have now reduced initial payment for modem to 300Rs. they know that once customer gets the modem, he is going to have to pay every month.
