pinging has no relation with disconnection he is facing.. his problem is actually very strange.

I beg to disagree on this I have found in my case that when I get disconnected or have speed troubles it corresponds with the time outs I get when I ping the DNS servers :) Also noticed in my case if there are more than 3 timeouts my net connection is good as dead. even though the modem lights & settings page give no indication. Whether its relevant in this case is still open to debate as no one has pinpointed the real cause yet of 'dragon5677' problem.

speed again is not related to DNS.if there is DNS issue, download will not start at all OR once download starts.. DNS does not come in picture at all.

uptill now means from how many hrs? mins?looks like it was just a coincidence?!

for maybe 2 hrs then!! but its back to disconnections again!! now im on mtnl dns, stable since yesterday. no disconnections.

now working opendns, but reduced sync rates, seems they are discouraging users from using opendns.

OpenDNS doesn't have servers in India, Google's DNS servers are in India or fairly close by in APAC. Also OpenDNS breaks the Internet in more ways than one.

I too had this problem during the 'April Problem' days (DSL-502T), my screen shot of that is posted somewhere on this forum, but it seem to have righted itself then.
