It is an irony that private operators like Airtel etc are giving speeds of 16 mbps while MTNL, the largest of all is still sticking to 2 mbps speed cap in Delhi, which city is going to host commonwealth next year. why the MTNL is not giving speeds like 16 mbps? whether they have any future plan to increase their speed beyond 2 mbps in Delhi?

MTNL telephone lines are old ones. i doubt if their lines wud even support stable 16mbps.

Well MTNL/BSNL were the first ones to start 8Mbps in India if you arent aware..
due to not mch response they eliminated that plan and maxed their bandwidth only to 2mbps.. bt now they are back wth 8Mbps..
so dnt doubt abt mtnl's aukaad lol :P

ehehehe..
Btw the question is would you be buying tht plan if introduced?:P

I doubt that 8mbps wud matter much with MB limit. With normal websites, 2mbps or 8mbps doesnt make much difference. With torrents, downloading wud be much fast but then if u download more than u need to seed more too, with 256kbps upload i used to find it too tough maintain seed ratio 1:1, so with 8mbps that will be almost impossible. so again, u wud think b4 downloading, so again 2mbps wud be sufficient :Dplus costwise too 8mbps wud be costly.so overall very few individual will go for it. may be only big companies wud want such high speeds.

The speed difference will matter if you are watching lots of youtube videos. 2 Mbps is hardly sufficient - lots of rebuffering.4-5 Mbps would be quite sufficient for online videos, with safety margins :-)8 Mbps would be needed only when you get hooked to streaming HD videos. And it should be affordable. The 4 Mbps unlimited from MTNL Mumbai @ 9999/- is not an affordable price for many.

it would be pretty stupid on MTNL's part if they are not working on enhancing the wire quality sequentially.

ROFL! r u serious to take 8Mbps plan?
the present 4Mbps UL plan is 9999 INR
if you are ready to pay for 4/8Mbps to MTNL i would say you would be the dumbest person, higher rate plans are expensive by MTNL, better switch to other ISPs for higher speeds.. also upload would b really bad..

m too happy on my 2Mbps UL plan .. am frm mumbai.
no idea about Delhi plans

@everyone
if higher speeds are introduced there would be UL plans for the same speed...
thought very expensive, thats wht i meant, even if its introduced would we be buying that ?(As an indiviual not a corporate firm)
i guess on this forum corporate people discussing abt speeds n prices would be dumb..

Fixed :thumb:

BTW we are still somewhat at same place we were 3 yrs ago in terms of speed and unlimited plans.

But the 999 U/L @ 512 kbps in Mumbai is lucrative option :)
