Hi,

i am on 599 unlimited plan, my modem is HG520 and ADSL has been unstable, after the adsl is unstable i keep my receiver off the hook and it becomes stable. my line stats are:

Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin

:
33.5 12.0 db

Line Attenuation

:
23.5 15.5 db

Data Rate

:
576 512 kbps

I have sent an email to [email protected] and also registered complaint on http://203.94.244.173:7777/vcare/index.jsp , i received a call from MTNL today and guy asked- Is your phone ok now? I replied it was the internet that needs to be fixed, he said ok and hung up. This has been going on for like a month now, phone comes from exchange asking whether the internet working fine and at that time it works fine mostly and ADSL is stable. I have no parallel phones and the main line coming from pole near my house is coming straight to the splitter. I cannot understand who to complaint to as ADSL becomes unstable again and again after 1-2 days. Sometimes when the ADSL is unstable i hook and unhook my phone and ADSL becomes stable again!!

What else can i do to resolve my problem?

Line stats look alright. Have you tried using a different modem ?

Problem is your line splitter , are you even using one? You need to replace your line splitter or get two separate splitters for phone & dsl if you have parallel lines.

Yes, i am using line splitter and don't have any parallel lines. The line comes directly into the splitter where it goes in my modem.

switch over to new ISP like Reliance WiMax or TATA WiMax is no other Wired available in your area way better then MTNL 50 Years Old copper line :( you will never get one stable connection.

How is the main wire connected to your phone & dsl modem? the main wire is connected to a box which has a rj11 port , this box is connected to the splitter with rj11 cable , Recheck all the connections & try replacing the rj11 wires , has to be related to the splitter since you said it becomes stable when you keep the phone off the hook.

Spliter is not the problem. Problem is with the resistance. Your both the wires are on low pair and thats the reason you getting stable connection when you keep the line engaged. Basically when you keep the line engaged resistance increases and connection is better. This problem is exchange end problem. Talk to your line man or go to your exchange and meet sdo your problem will be resolved
