Mtnl : Good Speed But Making A Fool Out Of People

MTNL Triband service is the most popular internet service going around in Mumbai today. Their packages for home users are great ,but there is one fault. The management for MTNL sucks big time. MTNL has a night unlimited plan for some of its schemes. This means that from 12 in the night to 8 in the morning user can have unlimited downloads. The only hitch is that you have to reboot the modem at 12 in the night and again in the morning at 8. If you dont reboot the modem at these particular times, then MTNL charges you for the amount of download at RS 1 per mb.Now the question here is to start your free download sessions you got to reboot your modem at 12 in the night from which time my free sessions start otherwise mtnl charges me for my download. That is if i download 200 mb i will be charged 200 rs for just not rebooting my modem.Now consider this scenario:I reboot my modem at 12 in the night and then i dont reboot my modem at 8 in the morning. Does this mean that until i reboot my modem i m in the free zone. Does that mean i can download anymuch i want until i reboot my modem?NOPE! This is where MTNL is making the moolah. They reboot the servers at their end at 8 in the morning and you are directly switched to the pay zone. So those guys who forget to reboot or are fast alseep leaving their downloads running are charged for their downloads after 8. So we have guys whose bills go upto RS 4000 or 5000 bucks where as the scheme is for rs 749 rs only.The question to be asked is if MTNL can reboot their servers at 8 in the morning why cant they do the same at 12 in the night. If i m downlading stuff at 11.30 and this ontinues to go on upto 12.30 without me rebooting my modemthen i will be charged cause MTNL does not reboot the server at that time. However when it comes to their turn of rebooting the servers from free zone to paid zone it is done . Many complaints to MTNL regarding this has no effects as these stupid people have no idea how their things works. They for god sake even couldnt turn my PC on when they came to install the service at my place.I am writing this to you so you can seek a explanation from MTNL regarding this. Also MTNL Delhi has a unlimited download plan which is still not being implemented in bombay.Another example of MTNL poor infrastructure is its webiste. Half of the time their website register.mtnl.net.in does not work causing a great deal of inconvenience. It seems that a good service has been given to people who cant manage it properly and is just looking to foll people and hide its ineffecient management.
 
well, i do agree with the point of staff quality u talking about! most of the times the mtnl guys don't know a thing about services or how they work! their old babus are too old for all this stuff! but, as for the 12 AM problem, well, have u ever tried downloading a file from 11:50Pm to over 12AM ? i have tried it many times and it doesn't count the MB's for me! This is in delhi! i have never had such kind of problem!
 
I agree with his point but then thing is u can overcome this limitations by proper task scheduling.Also when Ihad NU, there was some kind of calculation too. if my session overlaps 12 to 8 limit. it was not counting everything. but how it calculated exact MB i am not sure.
 
If you exceed the 12-8 limit, it will take the MBs in a prorated basis. I think its is(total MB in the session/total time) x time exceeded
 
well, i agree tht MTNL lags behind when it comes to customer care and other customer services, but having said that their home plans are the best in the market right now...and yeah!! u can always solve the problem of rebooting using scripts..
 
yeah i have the scripts and i use them a lot...i dont want to exceed my download anytime....as it is my dad wants me to go for the 200 mb scheme...he keeps on asking me why i want the 749 scheme.....anywasy i sleep at 12.15 and get up at 7.15 for work....so its fine with me...but for most users its not....:thumbsup:

200 MB:O....thats too less especially if ur download speed is 2 Mbps..u cant even open 10 webpages using 200 MB..:P

am not happy wid my 1.25 GB daily quota, so will be moving to 799 UL...but will miss my 2mbps express connection:(
