with this kind of infrastructure, they are struggling to manage 2mbps. Cant imagine what will happen with 24mbps :D

My Guess- MTNL won't even exist in Broadband till then. Some international private sector company with optical fibre technology will steal the market with great deals at low prices (though I, for one, won't "cross my fingers", 'cause it could take REALLY LONG for them to get un-crossed!)

no my guess is..MTNL might change everything to fibre within 7yrs or so by 2015... OR just like BSES and VSNL, MTNL will be taken over by pvt firm.

Yahoo! Broadband should come to India. They provide a bandwidth of 65mbps in Japan

a common man in Japan has 100mega bits per second conn. as compared to India with an average BB speed of 256kbps-512kbps.

me too thinks MTNL will go fibre.
but i dont think its gonna go in pvt firm's hands this time.

ADSL2+ lines, which MTNL currently provides can support upto 24MBPS. My friend is New Jersey named Rix has 54MBPS......And he hosts a server 24/7 in a game.....He says he is disappointed with 54MBPS....So I just keep imagining how Indians bear such kind of gayness.....Lowest speed offered in New Jerse y is 11MBPS......(Except Dial-up,but why would anyone use dial up when he has acess to such powerful connections).MTNL would need to supply a different routers if they (hopefully) try to provide speed above 24MBPS..From a different company or some better one from D-Link.IMO India sucks :(

ADSL2+ technology is capable of provinding upto 24mbps, but MTNL doesnt have the infrastructure yet to provide even 8 mbps properly as of yet. these modems are actually capable of providing 24mbps speeds.for that MTNL will have to improve all the lines. i dont think they would do that, instead they should be thinking of providing fibre optic lines everywhere.
