@ankur s lol what you need to understand is that for world class infrastructure you need to spend tons of money to upgrade everything ...in india this is not possible since a high percentage of the population lives BPL and also has no access to education or proper living conditions. So if you were to only consider the metropolitan cities of india because of the rigid topography and the mindless planning of the cities it is very difficult to implement fixed line services and due to the restrictions and the bad polcies of the goverment it is very expensive to run and mantain a wireless network. Setting up broadband in this country is a very difficult task.... you need to bribe lots of people have right contacts and the list goes on.... the LTE will start in a few months time... i was in bombay when i saw the qualcomm LTE demo and it was promising. But again like every other technology the prices and services are expensive initially and then the dive down ... The main problem with having wireless internet is the latency , the cost of maintaining the towers and the fear of security. Wireline internet is pretty safe because most of the cabling is underground or through the top of the electric poles..... but with wireless if you have the right know how... its pretty easy to access everything . LTE will be a better option for india as it supports the 3G and 4G networks as well, so that operators can upgrade their internet services as and when required on need basis. But the main question lies .... is introduction of new technology feasible? or the ISP's in india should move towards first providing the maximum services possible on the current hardware at cheap prices and then upgrade?
