Yes. That is the primary function of an image file. And, for that purpose, I don't touch the cue sheet that I embed inside the file.
To fix such issues (when I want to hear the song, I want the song, not the dialogs before it), I plan to modify a copy of the cue sheet and generate apl files. Since they are nothing but links, don't see any harm in doing that.


Ahh, then the makers of the cd did not put track markers in the right spot, right, usually being just before the track begins. In that case, yes, its much easier to define with cue files where you want a track to begin.

But isn't this really the exception, rather than the rule ?
(at least going by what i listen to). Otherwise you have a point.

But for the first time, I think I can be rest assured that the audio file is safe.

Only method i know to determine this is via the checksum file.

Yes. It is the publisher's (Saregama) fault that they did not create as many tracks as necessary and tried to get out of the situation by specifying which dialogs come before which tracks when in fact the dialogs are either at the beginning or the end of each track (some dialogs do have their own track though, on some cds).I suppose I will have to create checksum files for each audio file. How is flac fingerprint for that purpose?

FLAC does have internal integrity checksums, but i'm not aware what tool you can use to verify that. I think the cmd line encoder has an option to verify them.The beauty of it is you can save tags back to the file (if desired) and the integrity will still pass.

Modified a couple of tags and even embedded a cue sheet. flac fingerprint does not change. So, will have to go with something like fsum.

What if you change a few bytes in a hex editor...to simulate a file corruption. Try doing it somewhere in the middle.The changes you made i think are not supposed to change the checksum as the music part of the file has not been modified.I think this might merit some clarification from the experts at hydrogenaudio.Checksums i use are external ones so any change wil be flagged.

Will probably have to use Fsum Frontend - GUI frontend for fsum or SlavaSoft FSUM - Fast File Integrity Checker commandline coz EtreeWiki - Flac Fingerprint says flac fingerprint is only generated for the audio part.

Am finding it difficult to get good cover art for Indian film soundtracks and albums. The front cover is fine. What about the back cover, inlay, cd etc?

UPDATE: Its ironical in this case, as I have discovered, that the best album art for Indian films is only available on torrent-related forums, but that's the way it is.
