Thanks Amish. Will check that site for specs. Is there any capacitive touch phone from Nokia under 10 K ? or a good non touch phone around 10K ?

I dont know, I dont much have interest in keeping up with phone models. But u shud go to that site put in the specs. In your case DISABLE things like wifi, HSDPA etc. otherwise it will show high end mobiles too.So bring down ur search results to few phone and then check price range online somewhere... i think gsmarena allows u to search by price range as well.

Since it is not for me, I cannot take the risk. I can select only a model which is rated good based on some user experience. Thanks for the link.

I'd suggest to go for SE (SonyEricsson) phones. They have excellent UI that attracts (and easy to use for) even someone aged 55+. As your budget is limited to 10K, I'd suggest to go for SE Zylo. It doesn't have touch screen/wifi and have low battery standby time. Actually, every other phone does have some negative points to talk about in 10K range. It costs 6.2k.If you are really looking for a (capacitive) touch screen phone, then I'd recommend SE txt pro. It costs around 7.4k. It has almost everything for an elderly person. Touch screen/wifi/slider qwerty keyboard, etc. Again battery standby time is the issue in this model too. :) But for someone who doesn't make a lot of calls, the battery should come for a day, at least.Hope this helps.

Hmm 10K is a decent budget & I m sure u can find a lot of options for this budget... Unfortunately most of the better phones in this category are Android phone... Handling a Android phone can be a headache for a non tech Dad (I no from personal exp :) )... But if he a little tech savvy(even a little bit) then the HTC wildfire would be a very good choice coz among Android phones it probably has the best UI... Its available for under 10K... Also look at the LG Optimus one as its also a very good phone... There are also a slew of china made Android phones for less than 7k(starting @5K) but would really not recommend them... In the Nokia options C3 with touch & type is a good phone... Also if you are not adverse to look into the second hand market you might be able to pick up a nice used iPhone 3G for lesst than 9K... BTW if you are not really in a hurry to buy the phone you might want to wait until oct... The new iPhones are gonna be announced & there is a lot of speculation that a Iphone 4s might be introduced in the 10-15K range(some are even speculating a sub 10K launch price but I think that might be a stretch) ... Even if the Iphone 4s is over ur budget you might be able to snatch up a new Iphone 4/3GS in clearance :) ...
