I have read people who advice the same, on the other hand I have read other people who advice not to do it.Since I do have the issue, so made my mind to go ahead after reading your post. I have updated my firmware. I already have latest Mobile partner software.I will verify my connection.

I monitored the connection this night. It still gets disconnected during download. It does not disconnect during normal web surfing.
No +, No -

well may be there is signal issues..what i mean is sometimes because of poor 3g signal it automatically switch to 2g mode and sometimes stop detecting the device..it happened to me but not more often.

Good for you, my UMG1831 is sick with disconnections. I guess, I should go for a replacement.
