My friend paid 10k to an online store and order 4-5 clothing products. She kept only one and returned others due to quality issues and fitting.

Now the online store has given 8k as store credit which expires in 6 months. Their stock is not good right now and well she cannot spend this store credit, it's been a month already.

So asked for refund in bank account but the store is refusing. 8k is a decent amount that cannot be ignored.

This store is also collecting GST without GST number or store added.

I have started with consumer helpline website complain. And payment processor which is useless but just for the record. On consumer helpline site saw an option for online court case filing it's free and virtual thinking to go for that option next. (E-Daakhil)
I wanted to give this store opportunity to refund and save everyones time but it seems they have decided to just ignore. 😑

Legally just by mentioning we don't issue refund a store should not be able to deny refund right? They can put anything is terms but that's not legal right?

You'll need to approach the consumer court and file a complaint against this website there. BTW which website was this? It'll help us all keep away from it.

Not mentioning their name anywhere yet because I intend to file court case.

https://edaakhil.nic.in/ this website has a lot of success stories for consumer cases. Also mentioned on consumer helpline site. Is this same as consumer court it kinda looks like.

Credit Card dispute (if you used a CC) would be the easiest/fastest way to get the refund. Have you checked the store T&Cs to see if they have mentioned anything on this?

It was paid with net banking.

Razorpay is just saying to do chargeback from bank.

Also thinking to register GST complaint on pg portal.

The E-Daakhil site take 4-5 months to resolve.

Bank chargebacks tend to be hit and miss depending on the bank but you can still try.

Another thing you can do is try writing a formal sounding notice to take legal action type of email and copy the CEO etc. that might scare them into giving you the refund. Chat GPT should be able to generate it.

Seller "legal team" responded with a gst pdf invoice. Never seen such a weird calculation format. And same bs template our policy is this only.

Yeah so I will be filing my first consumer case.

Let's see how it goes 🙂

Preparing documentation and proofs for my argument.

So after researching in more details about consumer court. It's a time taking process and during COVID it became online - the case filing processing and in some states you can attend court hearing through video calls too.

But not a lot of information available about detailed process in good format. There are few videos of people sharing their experience and process.

To file a case you need affidavit notary thing and then attend court hearing which if it happens offline can be a problem because of job/work stuff.

I am trying to follow up with other consumer protection authority options, complain documents submitted to them are in a similar format acceptable in court with some changes.

Consumer protection authority should have more power like rbi ombudsman, sebi. Right now it's very useless if the seller doesn't respond.
