need to share broadband connection .....

hi experts........i have a computer and a connect broadband connection.... internet is running on this computer, but now i want to access internet on 1 more computer by doing networking, plz suggest me how i can do it..? what software and hard ware i neeed?* i also installed two lan cards in major compter(on which net is already running)and i nic on other computer....***** networking is running fine on both coputers, but when i start internet on 1st computer, networking also gets stopped....and i a unable to access internet from 2nd computer, but internet on 1st computer is running ok...plz help me to access internet on both computers....plz sugest me how i can access net on both computers...

If your second pc is a laptop, you can use a wifi router.

no dear, i am using desktop pc only... so i can connect through only lan card....

Ideally after your modem you should have a hub (read on this forum that a 5 port hub comes for around Rs 500/-) from which you connect your computers thru LAN wires. That way you can access internet irrespective of whether any other PC is on. Also your PC's can do with only 1 LAN card .

I am assuming that your router is connected to computer A and A in turn is connected to your computer B

Now internet is working in A but not in B

For this you have to slightly modify the network settings in computer A....
Depending upon your OS go to Network Connections... Right Click on your Local Area Connection which is connected to the internet, then goto properties.... after which select the sharing tab (as per the below image) then select the allow other users to connect through the computers internet connection.... then click on Ok

This should just about enable internet in computer B

The below checkbox should be selected in your computer A
