Netplus Broadband & IPTV Price Hike & Plan Changes – Are Broadband Tariffs Heading the Mobile Way?

Hi everyone,

I was just reviewing the updated tariffs on the Netplus website and noticed that they have recently restructured their pricing and lineups for both their standalone Broadband plans and their IPTV bundles.

For those who haven’t checked lately, you can see the current tariff structures here:
From what I can see, they have introduced a few completely new plans into the mix. Alongside these additions, they have tweaked the speeds on certain existing tiers adding an extra 15 Mbps to some of the plans to adjust the offerings. However, the biggest takeaway is the general price bump; they have increased the monthly rental by ₹50 across many of their standard broadband plans as well as their IPTV bundles.

To give you a couple of clear examples of these changes:
  • The Standalone Broadband Shift: Earlier, they used to offer a solid 100 Mbps at ₹499 + GST. Under the revised structure, that same ₹499 + GST price point only gets you 75 Mbps now.
  • The IPTV / Bundle Shift: The earlier Super Star IPTV Pack used to come with 60 Mbps speed at ₹649 + GST. Now, that exact tier has been bumped up by ₹50 to ₹699 + GST, while giving you 75 Mbps instead.
While getting an extra 15 Mbps on the IPTV side is a minor adjustment, losing 25 Mbps on the base entry tier or paying a flat ₹50 hike across multiple plans definitely adds up especially once you factor in the 18% GST on top of these revised rates.

This got me thinking about the broader telecom market. Over the past few months, we have been seeing nonstop news about the price hikes of mobile plans. Now it looks like fixed-line ISPs might be starting to follow the same trend to cope with rising operational costs.

I wanted to throw this question out to the community: Since we've been seeing so much news lately about mobile plan price hikes, do you think we are also going to start seeing similar broadband price hikes across other major players like JioFiber, Airtel Xstream, and BSNL?

Every ISP is jumping into the OTT war but yes IPTV is welcome move especially for household with old folks!

JioHome (fiber/airfiber) might hike when they launch their 5 Gbps plans rest only time will tell. LCO hopefully won't hike to retain customers and welcome the churn who will fled seeing the hikes in future.

At work, it's 499 plan. Speed as of now is 140. (DL speed on wifi usually is 12-15-17, so yes more than 100). But then again it's 5+1 month plan. So there's that..

Looks like Netplus has restructured their tariffs and offerings yet again! Following the recent price hikes and speed adjustments, they have made a few more notable changes across both standalone broadband and IPTV bundles.

Here is a quick breakdown of what’s changed this time:

  • Standalone Broadband Plans:
    • New ₹449 + GST Tier: Introduced a new entry-level plan offering 75 Mbps.
    • ₹499 + GST Restored: The ₹499 plan has been revised back up to 100 Mbps (reversing the recent drop to 75 Mbps).
  • IPTV / Bundled Plans:
    • ₹399 Pack Re-introduced: Brought back a budget-friendly ₹399 entry option.
    • Speed Upgrades: Speeds across IPTV bundles have seen another bump. For instance, the Super Star IPTV Pack at ₹699 + GST now offers 150 Mbps (up from 75 Mbps recently, and 60 Mbps @ ₹649 earlier).
It seems Netplus is tweaking its offerings to keep competitive at the lower end while offering significantly better speeds on IPTV bundles to justify the revised pricing.
