I am writing this letter with the deepest regret of being a Tata Sky customer.I was a Tatasky Zapper box customer from the very beginning of its launch and upgraded to TataSky+(SD PVR) few months back. Fascinated with the HD PVR box, again I have upgraded to HD PVR around 20days back. But since all my family members are more addicted to the SD PVR UI/functionalities, I would like to change my box back to SD PVR(TataSKy+). When I contacted the TataSky customer support to connect back my SD PVR box, to my surprise I was told that there is no option to change the box back and TataSky allows only upgrade!!Customer care suggests me to keep it as a secondary connection and loose the monthly subscription fees (Rs 150 pm) unnecessarily. I am thinking of closing my TataSky account and finding a new vendor with better UI.Never upgrade TataSky box if you are not 100 % sure of doing it.

quick question... what feature did your family really use on the SD PVR that u r MISSING on the HD PVR?

PS: Dont go around putting your subscriber ID on internet forums

It is not any specific features. It is the UI. For aged people they find it difficult to read/navigate thru the transparent menus. Also the shortcuts(ex : for regional -> [home]8 etc) are missing. But irrespective of the features/functionalities, I think it is customer's choice which STB they should use, and Tata Sky cannot demand it.Thank you for the note - I have removed the subscriber ID :)

Transparent stuff i agree.. but then again TS+ HD IMHO has the best UI around when it comes to text and content sharpness vis-a-vis other providers. Moreover TS+ SD also had a software upgrade and as far as I have heard the interface is now the same on both the PVR boxes. wht shortcut are you talking bout btw? Regional still exists if you hit the guide key and scroll down (press the down button) the last entry there is regional. I didnt get the [home]8 etc) thing u mention. Typo?

Even I personally liked the HD interface, but more votes in my family are for usability and readability:)SD software upgrade has not changed the interfaces.About shortcuts in SD. Sorry, it was not , it was guide.Example : In SD if you need to list - Kids channels, you need to press then number 6- Regional then 8- Telungu then 8 then 2where in HD, we need to scroll thru the entire list. At least till now I am not aware of any such shortcuts :(

Fair enuff... You do have a right to protest but I do believe that these terms were made clear before the upgrade itself.... But yeah serves as a warning this for people who are looking fire an upgrade
