Ten Cricket is the third channel from Taj Television India and it will commence transmission in the month of August, 2010, TTI said in a statement.The firm already broadcasts two other sports channels, Ten Sports and Zee Sports. The new channel will showcase a mix of live, non-live and feature programming, it added.However, no investment details were provided. "India as a sporting nation is fast transforming from a single sport to a multi-sport nation.We understand that the sports consumption pattern of the Indian viewer raises the need for specialised differentiated sport channels and this is what we hope to deliver to our cricket viewers," Zee Entertainment CEO (Sports
Business) Atul Pande said. Along with live cricket, the channel will also showcase feature programming on cricket, including magazine shows and archival programming.Taj Television, which has telecast rights from five cricket boards -- Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan, the West Indies and Zimbabwe -- will air forthcoming matches on its new cricket channel. "Going forward, we intend to further strengthen our content line up in cricket, which we will showcase on our channels," Pande said.In the next six months, Ten Cricket plans to telecast eight Tests, 25 ODIs and five T20 matches, the statement said, adding that the channel will also telecast the India-South Africa series, comprising three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and one T20 match. The new channel will be available on Zee Group''s DTH service Dish TV and the company is in discussion with other players as well, Taj TV said.
