New device connected to my JioFiber

A couple of days back, I got a couple of sms alerts saying that a new device is now connected to your network. The names of the devices were MAC 34 and MAC 35 and their MAC addresses were likely locally administered MAC addresses or randomised MAC addresses, one started with C2 and the other with 36, and I was not able to trace it to any vendor. When I checked my jio app, I saw another device named MAC 30 and I ended up blocking all three devices. Later, I realised that MAC 30 is my Jio STB and unblocked it. I called Jio helpline but they just told me to block and change my password which I had already done. Could this be someone who successfully hacked into my network or just stray connection attempts or something else?

I have also received such messages. What I have noticed is, if I log a new device to the network today, I receive this sms
alerts a few hours later. Sometimes, even after 24 hrs....
Jio needs to work on this feature. Alerts should be sent immediately just like atm withdrawal alerts. so customers are made aware immediately of any unauthorized access to our networks...

Did you figure out what those devices were?

Better put a strong password, no one can hack your WiFi signal. Note that whenever you connect any new device, these messages will come. Nothing to worry in it.

When I first purchased the JioFiber connection in April 2019, I immediately used to get the sms when a new device was connected. However, that is not the case now. The sms is received many hours later. I even tried resetting my router but no use. In case any unknown person connects to the network, by the time we receive an alert it will be too late.

Those were not my devices, password was probably not very strong but it was by no means generic

The Jio team who installed the connection also connects with your WiFi, so there can be those additional devices which you are seeing.
If you are so insecure about all this, better disable each and every devices and enable one by one upon finding your devices.

why not put some random hard to remember password and connect your devices using it? You don't need old password to change to a new one from my jio app and for guest well there's guest wifi.

Yes I also faced this issue twice, I happened to change the password immediately. I was able to find all devices that I use on paired devices but this was an unknown device.

I have never received a SMS even if connecting a new device. Is there some setting that needs to be enabled for this feature to work
