New FTTH 10mbps plan in MTNL Delhi

The funny part is why do they need fiber to give these speeds. ADSL2 is very much capable of handling speeds upto 10 Mbps with 1 Mbps upstream.
May be more new equipment they buy, more commissions (bribes) they get from equipment manufacturers. That is one reason why a highly profitable company like MTNL is now running in huge losses.

With the bad quality of mtnl lines, I don't think so.
I was about to say the same thing, but then wouldn't it be possible to atleast achieve the attainable rate that is shown along with the line stats and that, I believe, is greater than 10 mbps for most.

I'm having Rs.599/- unlimited plan 512Kbps No FUP.Now, according to new plan, if I pay Rs. 590p.m., I'll get 2mbps till 5Gb.That means, I'm better off paying less

Instead of welcoming FFTH in Delhi, you guys are cribbing. People!
I anticipate better FUP in near future.
P.S If I had to choose from the options above I would go for 1290 Plan
What you are saying is : you guys have the option of buying a ferrari (fiber) and you are cribbing about bad roads (low speeds and usage quota)
Most would prefer an Accord (6-8mbps on ADSL) with good roads (300-500GB limits)

... I think they should start with around 50-100gb with a price below 1200/mo... Anyway atleast it's a start...

Anyway atleast it's a start...Hi GuysI thought I might get some information about the plan from mtnl aunties but it seems they are not suppose to handle it, one has to go to sanchar haat for the information and connection. so I guess MTNL does not want to make it too convenient or did I get misled? By the way does anyone know how does the system work, once the fiber is at your doorstep do they plug it in to your home copper network or does it run separate? Does anyone have any info on the whole deal?
