So I have an 8-10 year old Sony HDTV which I think is 42" or the size above it. I'm planning on buying a new TV. What are my options? Selling the TV online and then buying a new one? Or what?

You would have better luck selling it locally and getting a new one. Or, if the TV is functioning properly, keep it for the other room and get a new one.
what ever you do dont exchange! you wont get a good value from the shops.Its better to sell it locally on olx,quicker or just keep it in the other room
