Modi will benefit hugely from this sting. The rebellion is finished. Zadaphia and Patel will have to shut up. And Modi can go to the people saying 'I was willing to fight this election on the development issue but these folks are not letting Godhra go'. And the people will listen to him. And he will win again.
The Congress does not have the b***s to do anything on this issue. When it itself been implicated in the Sikh riots of 1984 (Rajiv Gandhi too is blamed for not acting for three days post the Indira Gandhi assassination), how can it raise a finger to accuse anyone else? And what was Sharad Pawar doing in 1993 during the Bombay riots? The Congress government of that time too faces similar accusations - police were involved in the actual rioting, did not show up where required and so on.
You can leave out the other parties (Laloo makes his customary appearance on tv and goes back to drive his train). They are not interested in how justice will be delivered to the families of the victims anyway. Their only motive is how do we use this issue to thrash BJP & Co. in their home states and thereby win the elections.
Whether you call it genocide (Genocide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) or something else, the fact remains that people were murdered on a large scale and nothing has been done about it. Granted that the timing of the expose is suspect with the impending elections. But to rubbish the entire thing is plain lunacy. Modi is by no means Hitler (or Stalin, or Milosevic for that matter). But he is directly or indirectly responsible for Gujarat. There is no doubt in my mind on that point. He is an authoritarian ruler. Everybody who is not blind can see that. The saddest part in all this is Modi and BJP's steadfast refusal to express regret on the riots. They were in power at the State and Centre when it occurred. The Congress, at least had the decency, to apologise for what happened under their watch. But Modi and the BJP behave as if nothing has happened.
There are three different groups who are interested in Gujarat -
a) saffron groups in denial mode,
b) Modi baiters,
c) people who want justice.
The reactions of a (anger) and b (glee) are predictable. c are the only ones who matter. The legal system needs to take note of this urgently and punish the guilty. Coz, if such things continue, the future of India looks very bleak.

As per Clause 5 of the Cable TV Network Regulation, 1995, no entity can broadcast or re-broadcast any programme, which is not as per programming code
And the central government still wants to control media through the new Broadcast Code. If the Gujarat experience is anything to go by, the new code will provide governments with a sharper and more lethal weapon against news delivery.

BJP is questioning Credibility of Tehelka, calling it CIA and what not. Why don't they look at the evidence produced by Tehelka???

Leave Arun Tejpal, Tehelka, Aaj Tak, Media at one end, admit and examine the evidence produced, what more evidence can one produce than Rioters themselves accepting on camera their heinous crimes????
BJP is only adamant on one point why Tehelka does not do sting operation on Congress instead of accepting and investigating the Evidence produced.
The whole country and judiciary should look, admit & examine the the evidence produced by Tehelka instead of questioning Tehelka about why they do sting on BJP and not on Congress.......

I know Modi will win the elections bec he would gain from negative publicity anyways and he would again project himself as a Messiah for a particular religion.
But in a Democratic country like ours, we as citizens have lost to the cheap & dirty politics, we will be exploited by these politicians again and again still nothing would change.
The world is progressing on Technology and Scientific front and we are stuck on same Hindu-Muslim divide thanks to our Great Politicians like Narendra Modi................

What is new is that those who were involved are CAUGHT ON TAPE, bragging about their 'heroics'. The BJP demanded proof. Now the proof has been shoved down its throat. What are they going to do about it? Nothing. In any case, how else can involvement be proved? Do people expect live videos of murder and rapes? Stings have to be undertaken when there is no other means of getting to the evidence.The entire justice system in Gujarat is suspect. That is why SC shifted cases to Maharashtra in the first place. The major hurdle is, in India, very few politicians have been convicted of any crimes. I don't see how the sting is going to remedy that. Are the tapes admissible as evidence? Can those caught on camera be tried on the basis of that footage? These things have to be considered.
