RTX 3070 in India costs the same as RTX 3080 in US. We are paying Rs. 20,000 for taxes & custom duties

If I can get someone to buy it from US or Canada then I would go for 3080.

AMD will surely face very stiff competition from their arch-rival, but things will get better for them if they, hopefully, manage to implement hardware ray tracing with their RDNA 2 architecture.
But I'm curious to see their pricing as they did very well with their 570, 580, 5600xt & 5700xt Navi series. But this time scenario is different.

As a rough guide, for any international launches in USD, I multiply it by 100 (not 75) to get an idea for actual Indian price (gst, imports, any extras). Always changing or arbitrary % for imports, gst etc make it impossible to price at exchange rate(not that I am expecting at that rate). x100 seems to be working fine for guesses.

I remember getting 1080Ti for 62k from Amazon US GlobalShipping right when it was launched for 700USD.

Back in 2017 Amazon GlobalShipping charged between 12-18% tax which was prepaid and shipping was also very cheap.

Amazon probably lost a ton of money on that sale, since customs ended up charging like 20-30k for some reason and I didn't have to pay a cent of that.

Unfortunately now tax is like 42% on Amazon and shipping is much more expensive.

I'd rather go for the ps5 if its just for gaming.
A 3000 series build would cost around 1,30,000 (considering it would require at least a 3700x to avoid bottleneck)
Even if the ps5 ends up costing 50k , you could still buy all ps5 exclusive titles day one with the money remaining.

Oh and also you might need to drop 25k 16k on the motherboard if you want PCIe gen 4 to get the most out of the 3000 series.

Wdym there are cheaper B550 boards available for like 14k Buy Online Gigabyte B550 GAMING X AMD B550 Motherboard - in India

I disagree on PCIe Gen4. Even an RTX 2080 Ti is lightly bottlenecked by PCIe 3 x8 so something like 3070 or 3080 would be fine with PCIe Gen3 16x

TLDR - No, you don't need PCIe gen 4 to take full advantage of RTX 3080 and even RTX 3090
